| Montenegrin Grape Brandy (Crnogorska Lozova Rakija) is made by the
distillation of the whole fermented crushed grapes, without decanting the
wine. Therefore this method of production in earlier times made the
production of a high quality grape brandy impossible in the areas that had
been renowned for their superb wines, because the areas covered with
vineyards were small. It has always been laying down and ageing in glass
containers and that is why Crnogorska Loza Grape Brandy is colorless
fluid. Crnogorska Lozova Rakija is the best ambassador of Montenegrin vineyards.
The autochthonous Montenegrin sort Vranac is what gives Crnogorska Loza its unique
aroma. Crnogorska Loza is 47 degrees strong and is best consumed with
smoked ham, dry meat and cheese. Biotechnical Institute in Podgorica produces the elite
Institute's Crnogorska Loza by a special recipe. Only 6000 to 8000 liters of
Montenegrin Grape Brandy are
made every year!
Crnogorska Loza is served well cooled at the temperature 4-5 C range.
Montenegrin Grape Brandy is recommended to be served both as an aperitive
and digestive. In both cases, Montenegrin Grape Brandy is traditionally
served in Montenegro with dried figs, raisins and walnuts. Crnogorska Lozova
Rakija
can be used for making cocktails too.
Montenegro is a country of grapes, wine, olives and figs. The plain,
framed by highlands, is merged with Lake Skadar. The stony wings of its
banks are veiled by emerald vineyards. On the southern side of the
mountain range of Crmnica, there is a cradle of autochthonous wine-growing
cultivars - a traditional masterly workshop of famous wines.
